The Gloucester Federation of Women's Institutes was founded in 1919. Tibberton W.I. was formed in 1925, and it became Tibberton & Taynton W.I. probably in the 1930's.
To date we have a membership of 57 ladies and meet on the 3rd Wednesday of every month in Taynton & Tibberton Village Hall. Entertainment, usually in the form of a guest speaker, follows a short meeting. However, joining the W.I. opens up many horizons for ladies who wish to further other interests. Denman College in Oxfordshire holds courses on numerous subjects, the Gloucestershire Federation organize many trips and functions. Some ladies just attend the meetings when they are available to attend, but others like to get more involved with issues of the day. The W.I. gives a wonderful opportunity to forge new and lasting friendships as well as learn new subjects.
